About us

Let's make your inclusive brand, barrier-free

Online Accessibility is something that's so easily over-looked due to lack of experience, or completely ignored because it feels overwhelming.

At The Inclusive Design Company, we love helping businesses meet accessibility targets, and set their brand up for success with our various services.

From inclusive marketing workshops, to full website re-designs, to a wee colour palette refresh with accessible pairings, Rachel would love to help you make your business more inclusive.

About Us

Meet Your Designer

Hello, I'm Rachel! And this is all my sisters fault.

Hannah (the sister) is an ideal client for so many businesses. She’s successful, intelligent, and enjoys spending her hard-earned money on local services, meals out, holidays, games, books - you name it.

But she’s also visually impaired, and unfortunately, that results in people like her often being neglected when it comes to brand design - which means she can’t find what she needs, contact companies, or make a purchase online.

When I started designing website’s, I thought “well, I can’t give a client a pretty website that she can’t use - then the client would lose out on a customer.” And so, right from the start I knew I needed to learn as much as I could about accessibility, to make sure I was serving my customers the best that I could.

I wanted to build a business that put all people at its heart - not just the types of people we think of when we talk about “ideal customers”.

At the Inclusive Design Company we think about real people, in real situations, and design environments that are barrier free.”

Reviews from wonderful clients

"Rachel is amazing!! Highly communicative and makes sure everything is accessible for your website visitors. I had a great time with Rachel designing my website as I felt really confident that she’d do a fantastic job - and she did! Thank you so much"

Eri Mathers, Graphic Designer at Eri Creates

"Rachel reviewed my website and provided me with an understandable and thorough list of recommended changes to make it more accessible, along with a video walkthrough to show me the areas she was referencing (which I found particularly helpful as a visual learner). I feel so much better knowing my website is more accessible for a wider range of people, including people using screen readers and/or who have a visual impairment."

Katie Merrien, CommuniKate Design

"We recently worked with Rachel Mess Web Design to develop the new website for Diversity Scotland, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. From start to finish, Rachel was professional, responsive, and clearly committed to delivering a website that met our needs.

She took the time to understand our organisation, our audience, and the importance of accessibility and inclusion in everything we do. The final website is clean, modern, and easy to navigate - exactly what we were looking for. It works seamlessly across devices and reflects our values perfectly."
